THE STORY BEHIND BUCKWHEAT AND ALLEN E. DOWS We knew each other in high school and were very close friends. I used to set in back of her in art class and tie ribbons in her hair, calling her Buckwheat, and I have ever since. I used Allen E. Dows as my pen name on the school paper. She was engaged to someone else and I let her go. We always thought of each other over those many years we were apart. Finally we got together!
