------------NED ROUSE’S APPROACH TO LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCESThank you! I am so proud to provide music to people who are interested in what I do. If you have never seen me perform, I would encourage you to be my guest sometime.I decided a long time ago that affording a backup band was too costly for me, since I play many festivals and diverse venues. I designed a complex system to solve that problem. Since I have 16 CD's out and wanted people to hear some full versions too, I became well acquainted with modern tools. Now when I play live in a single performance, I am able to make it happen 3 different ways. This is the best way to break it down.....1. I sing and play many different instruments live/unplugged/solo.2. I loop certain songs. Looping is like performing into a live recording studio where I assemble many instruments into any particular song. Think of it as the way a baker puts together a layer cake.3. I go into my various studio recordings and take the main vocal and instrument track out. Then I add the instrument and the main vocal back in, with the assistance of several computers or sound generators. To keep it from being too predictable, I mix the 3 techniques together throughout the night in a single show. The beauty of it is, is the system fails, I am always ready to play simply, and unplugged!Further below the next text is a photo of that great system! HOW DO I BEHAVE ON STAGE?I am there to share my art and soul. My wife says I tend to be fun and delightful. I am a family friendly entertainer. My songs appropriately cover a spectrum from serious adult topics, to my own life’s lessons, or can capture the power of light-hearted fun and wonder. I understand that I am not perfect, but I am a wonderfully flawed person, reporting and discovering from the world I interact with. Because of that, I love learning, creating, and engaging different people. I have never liked profanity, except when a hammer hits my thumb; therefore, I do not play hammers on stage. I am not preachy about my beliefs like many other artists when they are given the power of a stage and a microphone. I am a firm believer that you let the music do the talking. Any opinion or belief I hold, I tend to keep within the music. My opinions may be shared in other places. I don’t see the stage as a place for anyone to assume that they are smarter than others, or need to put down anyone as though they are a judge and jury. I want to involve and include my audiences, not make them feel uncomfortable or unwelcome.
